It is entirely subjective but the price really is a giant factor in my decision. I don't as a matter of principle, purchase apple products because it simply IS true that historically the large majority of their products are quite overpriced for nothing more than the white plastic and the brand name (Yes, I scoff at alienware too even though it's quality). Also with something like a smartphone where the entire reason to own one is for its apps and data capabilities, I don't find it possible to separate the hardware from the software. :( I don't ask you to join me on my crusades, just to accept my lighthearted jeering :P <3
I'm not a brandist, some of my best friends are mapple people!! :P:P
But anyway, I'm not getting a droid because the plans are overpriced... so even though I'd like to be all fan-boyish over something like mac users have gotten... I just can't fork over extra money for a status symbol I don't really care about. So I'm stuck with my choices being a non Evo, or an Evo... and it looks like the Evo is winning. No NFC or 2.3 for me :(
HTC is a solid company and you can't go wrong with the Evo.
Also, 4g is good in theory, but if you leave it on you'll only be getting 6-8 hours of battery life.
Motorola is the worst of all of them, MotoBlur is an embarrassment to the google name. I've had every VZ MotoBlur phone, and am still using droid 2 unfortunately. Aside from the UI being completely unresponsive, my phone randomly reboots itself every few days, my battery doesn't last 24 hours, and my phone randomly freezes and I have to pull the battery out to do a full power cycle. It's the equivelent of buying a Dell or HP and leaving all the stock bloatware.
That said, if you want to root your droid and put a different UI on it, by all means, it's a lot of work, voids the warranty, and forces you to manually update.
Here is my UI preference: HTC SenseUI>Samsung TouchWiz>Motorola MotoBlur.
For you iPhone lovers, TouchWiz is VERY similar to it.
